Combining IoT, robotics and AI: where is the added value, where are the challenges? ERF Logo
A workshop at the European Robotics Forum 2017
  Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, March 24

The IoT (Internet of Things) and Robotics communities have produced highly complementary approaches that have so far been driven by different objectives, one focused on enabling pervasive sensing and interoperability, the other on producing action and interaction. It is increasingly claimed that the integration of results from the two communities will bring a strong added value to both, and that AI and cognition are key enablers for this integration.

Before we engage into a serious integration effort, we need to be more precise both about the added value and about the needed enablers. This session will discuss these questions. In order to do so, we will bring experts from the communities of AI, Robotics and of the IoT, as well as representatives from industry, finance, policy, research and end-users, in a highly interactive workshop. The outcome of this session will be the seeds for a roadmap for integrated IoT, Robotics and AI.

An event focused on IoT Robotics convergence has also been scheduled as part of the IoT Forum 2017 in Geneva from June 6 to 9. The result of this ERF workshop will inform the agenda of the event at the IoT Forum.
